Qualities of a Good Life Coach

If you are considering a career as a life coach, you have to assess yourself to make sure that you have what it takes to be successful as a coach. There are several qualities that I have found to be consistent among the best life coaches in the business have. Here are just a few.

First and foremost, a good life coach has to genuinely care about others. As a life coach, I work with people that want to make their lives better and more fulfilling. I have to have a vested interest in my clientele. Your clients will be able to tell if you are just going through the motions.

As a life coach, I have had to employ the use of superb communication skills. You have to be able to talk to your clients tactfully while being candidly honest. A person with a brash manner may not do very well as a coach. I often compare this to having a good bedside manner.

A good life coach has to be able to walk the walk and just talk the talk. In other words, you will not be able to effectively coach others if your life is in shambles. You have to be able to lead your clients by your good example. I cannot coach my clients to do things that I am not willing to do myself.

A life coach is a constant student. You have to have an inquisitive nature that is always willing to learn new things and ideas. If you are a quick study, that is also a great asset as a life coach. I find the best ways to manifest creative ideas to motivate my clients.

You have to be a people person in order to be a good life coach. Most life coaches work for themselves so you have to know how to network with others. I come into contact with all kinds of people that represent all walks of life. You have to genuinely enjoy people in order to have a satisfying and fulfilling career as a life coach.

There are so many different dynamics that make a good life coach. If you have the qualities that it takes, you have a great career ahead of you!
